50 DCLM Prayer Points Against Arrows of Foul Language:

Biblical Exhortation:

Brothers and sisters in Christ, let us be mindful of the power of our words. Proverbs 18:21 tells us, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”¹ Foul language is a destructive force, a weapon that wounds, defiles, and dishonors God. As believers, our speech should be seasoned with grace, bringing edification and encouragement to those around us. Ephesians 4:29 instructs us, “Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion,² that it may give grace to those who hear.”³ Let us strive to purify our tongues, making them instruments of righteousness and peace, reflecting the love and holiness of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Confession:

Heavenly Father, we come before you acknowledging our failures in the area of our speech. We confess that at times, we have allowed unwholesome words to proceed from our mouths. We have used foul language, spoken carelessly, and have not always honored you with our tongues. We ask for your forgiveness for every instance where our words have caused pain, defiled our hearts, and dishonored your holy name. Cleanse us, Lord, from the defilement of our speech and help us to speak words that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy (Philippians 4:8). We surrender our tongues to your control and ask for the grace to speak with wisdom and love, in the name of Jesus, Amen.
