Exhortation:

Beloved, the Lord calls us to a higher standard, a standard of love, forgiveness, and leaving vengeance in His capable hands. The desire for revenge is a destructive fire that consumes the heart and blinds us to God’s grace and our true purpose. It chains us to the past and prevents us from experiencing the peace and joy that Christ offers. Today, let us examine our hearts and surrender any bitterness or desire for retaliation to the Lord. Confession:

Heavenly Father, we come before You acknowledging our struggles with the temptation to seek revenge. There have been times when we have harbored resentment, plotted retaliation in our hearts, and allowed bitterness to take root. We confess that these thoughts and feelings are contrary to Your will and grieve Your Holy Spirit. We have allowed the hurt inflicted upon us to fester, leading us down a path of anger and unforgiveness. Lord, we are sorry for these moments when we have taken matters into our own hands instead of trusting in Your perfect justice. Forgive us for the times we have allowed the spirit of revenge to control our thoughts and actions. Cleanse our hearts, Lord, and create in us a desire for peace and reconciliation.
