50 DCLM Prayer Points Against the Spirit of Social Media Addiction
Exhortation
Beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, let us reflect on the words of the Apostle Paul in Romans 12:2, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.1 Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
In our modern age, we are surrounded by a digital world that offers both connection and distraction. Social media platforms, while possessing the potential for good, can easily become snares, trapping us in a cycle of comparison, validation seeking, and time wastage. The spirit of social media addiction seeks to steal our focus from God, our families, and our true purpose.
Let us remember that our time is a precious gift from God. How we use it reflects our devotion to Him. Are we spending hours scrolling, or are we investing in prayer, Bible study, and fellowship? Let us strive to be good stewards of our time, seeking to honor God in all we do. Let us seek to use these tools for the glory of God, and not to be used by them.
Confession
Heavenly Father, we come before you in humility, acknowledging our weaknesses. We confess that we have allowed the spirit of social media addiction to creep into our lives. We have wasted precious time, neglected our responsibilities, and allowed our minds to be filled with worldly distractions. Forgive us, Lord, for allowing these platforms to take priority over our relationship with you. We confess our dependence on the fleeting approval of others and our tendency to compare ourselves with the curated images we see online. We confess our inability to control ourselves. Cleanse us, Lord, and deliver us from this bondage. We repent, and we ask for your strength to break free.
