DCLM Devotional Against the Spirit of Stinginess

Exhortation:

Beloved, the Bible teaches us that God loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9:7). Stinginess is a spirit that constricts our hearts and hands, hindering the flow of God’s blessings in our lives and preventing us from being a blessing to others. It is a spirit rooted in fear and a lack of trust in God’s provision. Today, we must recognize this spirit as an enemy of our spiritual growth and financial breakthrough. We are called to be generous, reflecting the heart of our Father who freely gave His only Son for us. Let us break free from the grip of stinginess and embrace a spirit of liberality and cheerful giving.

Confession:

Heavenly Father, I come before you today acknowledging that I have allowed the spirit of stinginess to operate in my life. I confess that I have held back when I should have given, and I have been fearful of lack. I repent for every act of selfishness and every time I have prioritized hoarding over helping. Forgive me, Lord, for not fully trusting in your provision and for not being a cheerful giver. I renounce the spirit of stinginess and declare that I am now open to your spirit of generosity.
